Whether we like it or not, Autumn is here. I know everyone on twitter had been praying for Autumn to begin since like July, but I’ve not been one of those people. I love the summer- the warmer temperatures, the brighter colours and all the flowers. They all make me happy. After all, I can not handle the cold. I also much prefer the longer days of summer- I just hate going to work in the dark and coming home in the dark. It always puts me in a bad mood.
Now I know what you are thinking. Lauren- this is supposed to be a post about what you love about Autumn. And it is, I promise. I just had to get those few negatives out of the way first. Plus, lets be honest, that introduction has probably helped to make this post stand out a bit from all of the other ‘why I love Autumn’ posts that have went live over the past month. But now my rant is over I will get into the point of this post…
Now without further ado, things I love about Autumn…
1. The colours
I know I said I love the brighter colours of summer, but I also do love the darker, richer colours of Autumn. Especially all of those gorgeous berry toned reds. As somebody who pretty much lives in black, grey and burgundy, my aesthetic fits in much better with Autumn.
2. The candles
I have a real thing for cosy scents, especially anything with cinnamon on the label. Even during the brighter months I tend to burn cosier scented candles. So I do get pretty damn happy when all the shops start to stock their autumn themed candles.
I love to be comfortable. I pretty much live in my dressing gown and under blankets, and that’s not too easy to do during summer. So in Autumn, as much as I hate being cold, I do love getting the opportunity to wrap myself up in fluffy pyjamas, a big dressing gown, and a huge blanket. Pure bliss.
Don’t get me wrong, I love Starbucks at any time of the year. But it really comes alive at Autumn and Winter. And yes, I am a basic white girl who loves herself a PSL. I also really love their pumpkin loaf. I could eat it everyday.
And last but not least…
5. The fashion
Ah yes, the thing I love most about the season. The colder temperatures mean a need for lots and lots of layers an cozy knitwear, and I can not complain about that. As I’ve already mentioned, I live in black and grey, so Autumn fashion suits me pretty well. I am also a big fan of an oversized coat, so getting to break them back out of my wardrobe excites me greatly.
