Things I love about Autumn (and a few things I hate)

Whether we like it or not, Autumn is here. I know everyone on twitter had been praying for Autumn to begin since like July, but I’ve not been one of those people. I love the summer- the warmer temperatures, the brighter colours and all the flowers. They all make me happy. After all, I can not handle the cold. I also much prefer the longer days of summer- I just hate going to work in the dark and coming home in the dark. It always puts me in a bad mood.

Now I know what you are thinking. Lauren- this is supposed to be a post about what you love about Autumn. And it is, I promise. I just had to get those few negatives out of the way first. Plus, lets be honest, that introduction has probably helped to make this post stand out a bit from all of the other ‘why I love Autumn’ posts that have went live over the past month. But now my rant is over I will get into the point of this post…

Now without further ado, things I love about Autumn…

1. The colours

I know I said I love the brighter colours of summer, but I also do love the darker, richer colours of Autumn. Especially all of those gorgeous berry toned reds. As somebody who pretty much lives in black, grey and burgundy, my aesthetic fits in much better with Autumn.

2. The candles

I have a real thing for cosy scents, especially anything with cinnamon on the label. Even during the brighter months I tend to burn cosier scented candles. So I do get pretty damn happy when all the shops start to stock their autumn themed candles.

3. Blankets

I love to be comfortable. I pretty much live in my dressing gown and under blankets, and that’s not too easy to do during summer. So in Autumn, as much as I hate being cold, I do love getting the opportunity to wrap myself up in fluffy pyjamas, a big dressing gown, and a huge blanket. Pure bliss.

4. Starbucks

Don’t get me wrong, I love Starbucks at any time of the year. But it really comes alive at Autumn and Winter. And yes, I am a basic white girl who loves herself a PSL. I also really love their pumpkin loaf. I could eat it everyday.

And last but not least…

5. The fashion

Ah yes, the thing I love most about the season. The colder temperatures mean a need for lots and lots of layers an cozy knitwear, and I can not complain about that. As I’ve already mentioned, I live in black and grey, so Autumn fashion suits me pretty well. I am also a big fan of an oversized coat, so getting to break them back out of my wardrobe excites me greatly.

  • I hate the same thing about Autumn that you do; the fact that it gets so dark so quickly. Having said that, I love the fashion a lot! A cinnamon scented candle sounds so heavenly! xx

  • I love everything about it except when it gets too cold and the dark mornings/nights. Xx

We have a similar colour scheme! Maybe it’s because we’re brunettes? I live in grey, black and white so I love autumn as the burgundy comes out most years. I also like navy and am loving this dusty pink that’s out right now too. I drink nothing but hot chocolate in the colder months so I live in coffee shops!

  • I have to admit, I do enjoy Autumn… although you’d think I’m a summer person because I was half/raised in Thailand I do enjoy the colder months when its in between. I LOVE coming home and lighting candles, which for some reason during summer I slip out of the routine doing so when Autumn hits I’m all for candles! Makes everything feel so cosy xxxxxx

I love autumn so much so this post is right up my street. I love candles and jumpers, basically anything that’s cosy. I have to agree that some elements aren’t the best but it is seriously such a lovely time. Great post.
