A few weeks ago I was very kindly sent over a few products from the Joico K-Pak range to try out. I had tried out Joico in the past and I loved the products I used, but I had never got around to trying anything else, despite constantly telling myself I would. So when I received my k-pak products, I was so excited to get trying them out. I was sent a shampoo, a conditioner and a treatment, so without further ado, here are my thoughts.
The first product I was sent was the clarifying shampoo. A clarifying shampoo is something I have always meant to introduce into my hair routine, but being as lazy as I am with my hair, I just never got around to it. Now for those of you who don’t know, a clarifying shampoo is designed to remove the build up of styling products and chlorine that’s in your hair. There’s varying advice on how often you should use a clarifying shampoo- some people say once a week, others say once a month. I personally use this once a week.
I don’t actually use that many styling products in my hair (again- I’m lazy), but I have quite thick hair, and I have a spot of either side of my hair that never seems to be fully clean, no matter how often I wash it. Well after using this shampoo once- totally clean. Not even joking, I can’t remember the last time my hair felt this clean. I also noticed that after drying and styling my hair, it looked a lot bouncier and had a lot more volume.
The next item I was sent was the conditioner which is designed to help repair damage. When it comes to looking for hair products I do normally try and find products that mention damage- the combination of rarely cutting my hair and using a lot of heat has left my hair pretty fried. I don’t use this conditioner every time I wash my hair, I only use it when I use the clarifying shampoo, but I can definitely see a difference in my hair. Now don’t get me wrong- my hair is still damaged. No hair product can actually reverse the damage already caused. But after using this I always feels as though my hair looks sleeker and less frizzy.
Now as you can see from the name of the product, this is designed for people with coloured hair which I do not have. But as I have grown up with a mother and a sister who both colour their hair quite regularly, I got used to using their hair products for coloured hair. And I actually love using them because I find they condition my hair better. This product has been designed to be used as either a deep condition, or as a pre-shampoo treatment. So far I’ve only used this as a deep conditioner once a week (normally on a different day to the other products), but I can definitely say it’s been a success so far!
