Exploring my local area: Summer Bucketlist

Exploring my local area: Summer Bucketlist

So we’re now into the summer which means, in theory anyway, that we should have lots of good weather! And I’m sure I am not the only person who loves to get out and explore when it’s sunny rather than sitting around watching Netflix. So today I thought I would share a few local(ish) spots that I hope to go to over the summer.

Peace Maze

The Peace Maze is situated in Castlewellan Forest Park about 40 minutes from where I live. I’ve been to Castlewellan a few times, and I’ve took quick walks into the forest, but have strangely never visited the maze.

The Argory

The Argory is a gorgeous Irish gentry house which I visited as a child, but have to visit again. Mostly because I really want to take a walk around the gorgeous gardens to take some pictures!

Seaforde Gardens

Another spot I want to visit for the photographic opportunities it will give me! There is a walled garden, a maze and even a tropical butterfly house where there are butterflies flying around! I absolutely love butterflies so this sounds perfect to me.

Ulster Museum

I love the Ulster Museum, but I haven’t been in so long! There’s a new exhibition thats just opened called ‘Blurred Lines’ that is all about the evolution of fashion photography which sounds exactly like something I would love, so I’ll need to visit that.

Titanic Belfast

Shockingly, I have never been to the Titanic museum, despite being in Belfast all the time and the Titanic Quarter being my favourite part of Belfast. I think I might finally make a visit this summer, though I have to admit: the admission price is definitely putting me off slightly (Β£18 per adult… that’s pretty damn pricey).

  • The peace maze is great fun if you have any young ones to take along with you, you could be in there for hours πŸ™‚
I agree that Titanic is pricey but I think it’s worth it, you could spend a whole day there then maybe do the wee tram tour around the area too, a great wee day out.
If you’re feeling flush you can also have afternoon tea in the great room, it’s a lovely experience (even though its a mock up) it feels pretty special.
Love this feature, Lauren. Some great picks there πŸ™‚

  • I really want to visit the Titanic, Belfast…although living in England makes it an even pricier trip which is slightly annoying.

My Summer bucketlist definitely involves checking out all the new restaurants and cafes that have opened in St. Andrews while I’ve been abroad and visiting all the nearby fishing villages! The titanic museum sounds great although that is a pretty steep entry price! xo
