New Year Resolutions 2017

New Year Resolutions

Can you believe it’s 2017 already? I hope everybody had a lovely time bringing in the New Year no matter what you did. My plans didn’t quite work out: I was supposed to be visiting my best friend in London with my boyfriend but unfortunately my flight was cancelled due to the fog so instead we had a quiet New Years Eve.

I thought that for my very first post of 2017 I would talk about a few of my New Year resolutions. I’ve already talked about my blogging goals so this post will be more about my personal goals.

Try new experiences

Not only did my NYE not go to plan, my New Years Day didn’t quite go to plan either. Instead of a lazy hungover day, I ended up going mountain biking with my boyfriend and his friends. To say it was a challenge is an understatement, and I’m still a little sore, but I can’t deny it was fun! So this year I’ve decided I want to try more new things and step out of my comfort zone more.

Get a new job

I’ve been saying this for ages but this year I will do it. I don’t know what kind of job I’m going to manage to get, but no matter what I know I need a change.

Stop being so down on myself

This past year has been pretty hard for me. I’ve been constantly down on myself and it needs to stop. So this year I’ll be focusing on me and my well-being. I’ve stuck some daily affirmations up on my dressing table so I can read them every morning, and I’m starting a happiness jar. I’m determined I’ll get myself into a better state of mind.

Get more active

I’ve come to realise that I have got far too lazy recently so this needs to stop. I’m going to start being a lot more active. Part of that is going to include walking the dog more, and getting out of the house on my days off instead of watching Netflix

I used to love reading, but these past few years I have hardly read anything except magazines. So this year I’m determined to read twenty books. I’ll be reviewing some of the books I’m reading and I’ll be keeping track of them through my Goodreads account.

What resolutions have you made for 2017?

  • Sian…

I’m with you on all of these! I desperately want a change of job right now! I’ve already started reading more, it’s easy just to spend half an hour before bed just reading. It helps me sleep too!

    • Thanks Sian! Yes that’s what I’ve been trying to do, 30 mins before bed to help switch off my mind 🙂

I want to get into a better mind set too, should make us feel so much better overall!

  • Sounds like you have your head screwed on just right with your resolutions, Lauren! The daily affirmations on your dressing table are such a great idea, I really need to do something similar as I bet they’re really motivating! I’m a big fan of Goodreads as well, I’ll definitely be adding you on there!

    • Thanks Abbey! Yes definitely add me, I’m trying to get into using it properly, I always tend to forget about it ha

  • Lovely little resolutions, I hope you manage to stick to them! 🙂 I’m so with you on reading more – reading was all I used to do, I loved escaping into a whole new world whenever I wanted to, but with the hustle and bustle of life, it’s impossible to get time to sit down and enjoy a good book. I’m definitely going to make time for reading – since December, I’ve completed three books which I’m pretty happy about!

    • Thanks Maira. Yes it used to be all I did as well, as a kid my nose was never out of a book. 3 books is really good, I’m reading one atm and it’s taking a little longer than usual but atleast I’m reading again 🙂

  • These are such lovely resolutions and I think that they are very achievable. You will have to keep us updated on your happiness jar – it sounds amazing 😀 xx

Love these. Reading more seems to be on so many peoples lists this year, though I’m sure it was the same last It’s a continuing resolution I’d And definitely the done that’s on my list that;s in my There are so many good books out at the moment, which helps too. 🙂
Completely relate to the being down on yourself one.. Again, I’m sure this is something everyone does at some point, but I’m sure you have so much to be grateful for and so many people in your life that love you, so why shouldn’t you love yourself a little. 🙂
